Bay Area Project SEARCH
Toolworks is excited to be part of a small consortium of agencies awarded funding to create Bay Area Project SEARCH.
Project SEARCH is a highly effective model that partners medical centers with nonprofit agencies serving people with disabilities to create successful recruitment, employment training, and retention programs for people with disabilities.
Project SEARCH was started at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, OH and has been been replicated successfully in several other states. Through the grant, Medical Center partners interested in working with us will have the opportunity to visit Cincinnati Children's Hospital or other medical centers to see the program in action, as well as meet with the hospital administrators who made it work for their facilities.
Through technical assistance provided by the national Project SEARCH group, Medical Centers can:
-
Identify hard to fill positions or positions with high turnover
-
Identify tasks that are being completed by highly skilled personnel, reducing patient care time
-
Learn from industry professionals how to create efficiencies by using the project SEARCH employment model

Toolworks' participant Christine Gunabe.
The Bay Area Project SEARCH team will then create a customized recruitment, training and support program for employees with disabilities with our medical center partners. Our Project SEARCH team provides staffing for the program, typically at no cost to our partners.
