Janitorial Floor Specialist

  • Purpose: In a supportive work environment for people with disabilities, provide expert floor maintenance and care services, complete cleaning and maintenance tasks per contract specification, and other janitorial assignments as needed.

Toolworks is seeking to fill the position of Janitorial Floor Care Specialists whose primary duties are to maintain various floor types at a U.S. Government facility. Floor types include but are not limited maintenance of terrazzo, vinyl composite tile, vinyl flooring, vinyl sheet goods, tile, concrete, stone, and engineered wood flooring. The Specialists works independently and may be assigned to a variety of shifts depending on the facilities maintenance needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Functions:

  • Maintenance of terrazzo and marble flooring including stripping, sealing, finishing, and polishing as well as intermittent reconditioning and polishing, wet buffing, and dry buffing/burnishing.
  • Maintenance of vinyl composite tile, vinyl flooring and vinyl sheet goods, including stripping, sealing, finishing, polishing as well as intermittent care including buffing/burnishing.
  • Maintenance of tile flooring including stripping, sealing, finishing, and re-grouting.
  • Performs carpet care including spot and stain cleaning and carpet cleaning,
  • Maintains engineered wood flooring including waxing and polishing
  • Operate and maintain a variety of floor care machinery including automatic walk-behind floor scrubbers, mini-edge scrubbers, low and high-speed buffers, carpet extractors and bonnet machines, wet/dry vacuum, vacuum cleaner, and air blowers.
  • Ensures the safe and appropriate use and disposal of floor care chemicals.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with proscribed regulations and policies.
  • Provides crew performance input to supervisor
  • Ability to work with limited or no supervision, on a variety of shifts including nights, evenings and weekends as assigned.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
  • Other janitorial duties as required.

 Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

To perform the typical tasks and duties of the position successfully, the knowledge, skills and/or abilities listed below are required.

 Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience performing custodial work at a heavy traffic facility with a high degree of public interface.

Knowledge of:

  • Methods, materials, machinery, chemicals, tools, and equipment used in hard floor and carpet maintenance.
  • The safe use and disposal of hazardous materials specific to cleaning compounds, solutions, and chemicals.
  • Familiarity of safety methods and procedures pertaining to floor maintenance work.
  • Basic principles of customer service.

Ability to:

  • Work independently, understand and follow instructions and floor care guidelines.
  • Read, understand, and follow written directions, equipment manuals and warnings on labels for various cleaning agents, solvents, and other equipment
  • Train employees and persons with disabilities on floor work procedures.
  • Respond in a timely manner to routine work questions and report safety, work and customer-related problems promptly.
  • Exercise care and sound judgment in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and relocate a variety of objects weighing up to 50 pounds and move wheeled equipment weighing up to 150 pounds.

 

Salary Range: $20.75 per hour.

Payroll Administrator

  • Purpose: The Payroll Administrator provides consistent, timely, and accurate processing of all payroll functions.
  • Starts: Immediately

Duties and Responsibilities

Fiscal Administration

  • Reviews and processes payroll on a semi-monthly basis for hourly and salaried employees in compliance with state, federal, and local laws.
  • Ensures delivery of all payroll-related benefits- commuter checks, health plan deductions, retirement contributions, etc.
  • Process all payroll advances and final paychecks.
  • Administers all fiscal policies and procedures in conjunction with the accountant to ensure compliance with Toolworks’ policies and procedures and applicable state and federal laws. 
  • Prepares reports for the finance team.

Administrative  

  • Provides internal financial reporting as required.
  • Audits fiscal functions regularly and leads the annual audit process.
  • Maintains and updates ADP database information.
  • Ensures all fiscal recordkeeping is current and agency is compliant with all applicable local, state and federal laws.

Duties and Responsibilities

Management

  • Build strong customer relations and customer retention by delivering consistent fire break, weed abatement and litter patrol services.
  • Build and train a high-performing team. Manage up to six more service routes, schedules; trouble shoots daily operational issues, ensuring uninterrupted delivery of services.
  • Provide department operational management including staff performance management, processing payroll, billing, and reporting. Serves as primary contact for client. Partners with Landscape Job Coach to provide staff services and coaching required.

  • Work with the Vice President, managers and supervisors in the development and implementation of best business performance metrics including and key performance indicators and monitoring systems of same.

Administrative Skills

  • Creates and maintains quality safety and quality control reports.
  • Files accident and injury reports including Workers Compensation forms and reports.
  • Complete all required reporting in a timely manner including staff evaluations, customer satisfaction surveys, timesheets, and employee relations communication and documents as needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

 Education and Experience Requirements

  • Experience and solid expertise managing mid to large-scale commercial and/or governmental landscape maintenance operations; includes firsthand familiarity and proficiency with production, job costing, budgeting, scheduling, and material purchasing.
  • Proven proficiency in landscape safety including applied OSHA based landscape safety programing and key OSHA based safety certifications. Proven proficiency in the use and staff training in the safe use, maintenance and operation of gas-powered fire break tools including chainsaw, weed eater, hedger, pole saw and hand tools. C27 Contractor’s License issued by the State of California preferred.
  • Proven leadership, sophisticated supervisory abilities; excellent communication skills and organizational abilities.
  • Experience in conducting highway and roadside fire break work, including weed abatement tree trimming and litter patrol work.
  • Experience in data-based job tasking, efficiency programing and performance metrics.
  • Proven experience in customer service and client management.

Client Support Functions

  • Train and support people with disabilities on the job ensuring individuals are working safely and independently as possible when performing their job duties.
  • Provide job coaching services for Toolworks Landscape Program. As an embedded job coach, will report and work daily with each mobile landscape crew to provide training and services in the field. When coaching is not taking place, the coach will work with the team to model productivity, cooperation, and teamwork.
  • Meet with site leads and Landscape Supervisor on a regular basis to address performance needs.
  • Provide training and support on issues that impact job performance including time management, punctuality issues, communication skills, interpersonal skills, productivity, etc.
  • Provide instruction regarding client rights and self-advocacy.
  • Maintain proactive dialogue between social enterprise management and service management team on performance issues.
  • Perform quality control and worksite safety inspections
