Community Living Instructor(Live-In) ASL fluency Required

Fremont, Full-time

Duties and Responsibilities

This Live-In position entails supporting two clients who are deaf in their home in Fremont. Fluency in ASL is required

  • Home is in Fremont
  • Proficient knowledge in American Sign Language
  • Experience/knowledge working with individuals who are deaf and who have Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities preferred
  • Current schedule is 5 days a week 6am to 10am and 8pm-10pm + overnight. Days and hours are somewhat flexible. Additional overnights/shift work available if interested.

Client Support Functions

  • Teach functional skills to people with disabilities including: meal preparation, shopping, hygiene, budgeting, safety awareness, and maintaining a clean and healthy living environment.
  • Instruct clients in researching and accessing community resources to reach their goals and increase independence.
  • Travel train clients using the mode of transportation suited to each individual based on their abilities.
  • Educate clients on their rights and self-advocacy.
  • Recognize unusual or threatening conditions related to persons with disabilities and resolve issues if necessary.

 Administrative Functions

  • Create and maintain schedule.
  • Monitor client progress in case notes.
  • Complete Special Incident Reports as needed.
  • Complete all other required paperwork.

 Organizational (all staff)

  • Participate in meetings and training as required
  • Comply with current agency performance standards
  • Report changes in criminal or employment status on a timely basis
  • Represent the organization to visitors and the community as needed
  • Maintain a professional attitude, working cooperatively with other staff, clients and members of the community
  • Maintain confidentiality of client/staff information as required by law and agency policy
  • Complies with Mandated Reporter requirements as required by law and agency policy
  • Treat clients and co-workers with dignity and respect

  • Purpose: To lead effective human resources and ensure smooth administrative operations to support the agency’s mission, goals and objectives.

Position

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President of Human Resources and Administration will be responsible for
enhancing the internal organization processes and infrastructure that will allow Toolworks to continue
to grow and fulfill its mission. The VPHRA will have both internal and external facing responsibilities
ranging from administration (communications, fiscal, facilities), human capital (HR/recruiting,
mentoring, career progression) to strategic initiatives (quality control, outcome measurement,
compliance). The VPHRA will partner with the CEO and accountant in developing, implementing and
managing the operational aspects of the annual budget.
The VPHRA will partner closely with the CEO to chart Toolworks future growth and strategic response to
an ever increasing demand for the organization’s services- providing leadership in Toolworks planning
processes and implementing new strategic initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Develop and implement strategies for effective recruitment, training and retention of employees
  • Develop strategies that effectively carry out the organization’s mission- including representation
    of individuals with disabilities and other diverse groups in the organization’s employee classes
  • Develop compensation and benefits structure that effectively utilize the agency’s resources and
    ensure employee satisfaction
  • Conduct employee satisfaction and other work life surveys

Management

  •  Manage all administrative policies and procedures as it relates to HR, operations, and office
    management
  • Manage all HR systems and staff: recruitment, orientation, benefits, training, professional
    development, evaluation, employee relations.
  • Manage all aspects of compliance: policy and procedures, local, state, and federal law, ensuring
    that policies are implemented and carried out uniformly across the agency
  • Manage the time of the Sr. HR Generalist, I/T Manager, Office Operations Assistant, Office
    Operations Assistant, and PT Benefits Coordinator ensure good workflow and productivity in the
    Administration Department
  • Provide operations assistance to the organization’s social enterprises
  • Manage personnel and administrative file systems including HRIS electronic systems

Administrative

  •  Create and deliver company communications
  • Audit administrative functions regularly to ensure high level functioning systems, processes and
    procedures: HR, payroll, operations and janitorial operations
  •  Complete all required reporting and facilitate regular audits to ensure organizational compliance:
    EEOC, Vets Report, 5500’s, OSHA 300A, and other
  •  Maintain and update all retirement plan documents and manage administrative processes for
    401k, 403b, 457b, and WDR pension Plans.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Education and Experience Requirement

B.A. in Business Management, Human Resources, or a closely related field required, M.A. preferred
Minimum of five to seven (5 to 7) years of direct experience working in Human Resources with at least
five (5) years of supervisory experience.
Human Resources credentials required (SPHR, PHRca, etc.) CPP, strongly preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities Requirements

  •  Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ADP Workforce Now
  •  Demonstrated strength in effective employee relations
  • Past experience managing human resources function including personnel, compensation, and

Position Title:       Community Living-Deaf Services Case Lead – San Francisco Area

Reports to:           Program Manager

Supervises:           Program Manager

FLSA Status:          Non-exempt

Purpose:                To support Deaf people with disabilities in maintaining independent community living.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Client Support Functions

  • Provide attendant care, in-home support, and training to Deaf clients in all areas of daily living, including, but not limited to: meal preparation, shopping, hygiene, personal care, budgeting, safety awareness, and maintaining a clean and healthy living environment
  • Provide instruction regarding client rights and self-advocacy
  • Recognize unusual or threatening conditions related to Deaf persons with disabilities and resolve issues if necessary
  • Participate in ISP creation and planning process
  • Perform Quarterly Safety Checks in assigned households
  • Schedule and plan house meetings in assigned households monthly or as needed
  • Assists Deaf client with monitoring generic supports including In Home Support Services (IHSS) and provider scheduling/timecard monitoring

 

Administrative Functions

  • Assist Staffing and Program Manager with training of new employees in assigned households
  • Assist Program Manager in monitoring client health, finance and other personal affairs in assigned households
  • Maintain all client documentation and records pertaining to health plans, medications, client information sheets, and ensure all records remain accurate and up to date;
  • Provide input to supervisor (i.e., Program Manager) for staff scheduling to meet the needs and requirements of the supported client
  • Monitor client progress in case notes
  • Assists with new client intake and assessments
  • Complete Special Incident Reports as needed
  • Keeps First Aid/CPR current
  • Complete all other required paperwork

Purpose:

In a supportive work environment for people with disabilities, provide support for individuals and complete cleaning and maintenance tasks per contract and customer specifications.

DESCRIPTION

Toolworks is seeking to fill the position of a Janitorial Lead Utility Worker, whose primary duties are to lead teams and execute projects for the maintenance of various floor types, interior window washing, and other janitorial projects at a Federal site in San Francisco. Floor types include but are not limited to maintenance of terrazzo, vinyl composite tile, vinyl flooring, vinyl sheet goods, tile,  concrete, stone, and engineered wood flooring. The Janitorial Lead Utility Worker works independently and may be assigned to a variety of shifts depending on the facility’s maintenance needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Functions:

  • Leads teams to conduct floor maintenance activities. Flooring includes terrazzo, marble, VCT, and vinyl sheet flooring including stripping, sealing, finishing, and polishing as well as intermittent reconditioning and polishing, and buffing. Flooring work includes tile flooring maintenance including regrouting and carpet cleaning and care and care for engineered wood flooring.
  • Conducts interior window cleaning.
  • Conducts periodical cleaning projects as assigned.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of floor care machinery including automatic walk-behind floor scrubbers, mini-edge scrubbers, low and high-speed buffers, carpet extractors and bonnet machines, wet/dry vacuum, vacuum cleaners, and air blowers.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with proscribed regulations and policies.
  • Provides technical training for other crew members as required.
  • Ability to work with limited or no supervision, on a variety of shifts including nights, evenings, and weekends as assigned.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

To perform the typical tasks and duties of the position successfully, the knowledge, skills and/or abilities listed below are required.

 

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience performing custodial work at a heavy traffic facility with a high degree of public interface.

Knowledge of:

  • Methods, materials, machinery, chemicals, tools, and equipment used in hard floor and carpet maintenance.
  • The safe use and disposal of hazardous materials specific to cleaning compounds, solutions, and chemicals.
  • Familiarity with safety methods and procedures pertaining to floor maintenance work and interior window washing.
  • Basic principles of customer service.

Ability to:

  • Understand and follow oral and written guidelines.
  • Read, understand and follow written directions, equipment manuals, and warnings on labels for various cleaning agents, solvents, and other equipment
  • Train employees and persons with disabilities on floor work and window cleaning procedures.
  • Respond in a timely manner to work-related inquiries.
  • Exercise care and sound judgment in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and relocate a variety of objects weighing up to 50 pounds and move wheeled equipment weighing up to 150 pounds.
