Assistant Director of Community Integration

  • Supervises: CI Coordinators
  • Status / Level: Exempt
  • Purpose: To assist the Director of Community Integration in managing the day-to-day operations of the department.
  • Starts: Immediately

Duties and Responsibilities

Management

  • Manage the daily operations of the Community Integration Program assuring the overall quality of day program services provided
  • Assist the Director in managing the compliance of the program: CARF and DDS and other regulatory agencies as warranted ensuring that programs comply with each agency’s regulations in providing quality services to the clients Toolworks’ serves in community services
  • Manage the work of the Coordinators to ensure good workflow and productivity
  • Manage the professional development of all staff in the department

Client Support

  • Teach client rights and develop client self-advocacy skills
  • Responsible for person centered planning and developing Individual Support Plans
  • Develop resources and opportunities for clients to maximize their participation in the community
  • Perform direct care duties as needed

 Administrative

  • Complete all required reporting for regulatory bodies: CARF, DDS, and other necessary compliance related reporting
  • Carry out intakes and maintain contacts with referral sources as needed
  • Prepare and submit all billing

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Education and Experience Requirement

  • B.A. in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field, or in lieu of education, a minimum of five (5) years experience working with adults with developmental disabilities
  • Minimum two (2) years management experience

Skills requirement

  • American Sign Language, Spanish or Cantonese skills preferred. Some level of fluency for certain target populations may be required.
  • Fluent report writing skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet client needs.
  • Able to recognize unusual or threatening conditions related to persons with disabilities
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong time management skills, patient, detail oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Program requirements

  • Fingerprint background check (Child Abuse Index, Criminal Record Clearance)
  • First Aid/CPR certification required (within 30 days)
  • Clean DMV printout and proof of auto insurance
